Potato Stamp Planets

This craft is out of this world! And it uses a very down-to-Earth art supply: potatoes!

Supplies Needed:

  • A couple Small Potatoes

  • Some Paintbrushes

  • Different colored Non-Toxic Washable Paint

  • Black Paper

  • Paper Plate

Prep for the Adults:

Depending on the age of your kiddo completing this craft, you may want to pre-pour a paint palette for them.

Pre-cut the potatoes in half!

Step-by-Step:

Create a workstation for your young artist. You may want to use a table cover, this project can get a bit messy!

Mix the paint together slightly to create a marbled effect.

Make sure to keep a pile of white paint unmixed! Dip a big paintbrush into the white paint.

Pull the bristles back…

And flick the paint onto the paper! Now you’ve created a galaxy of stars!

You can experiment with different light colors for the stars- pink, yellow, purple, etc.

Now, dip a potato half into your marbled paint mixture.

And stamp it on the paper!

Repeat as many times as you’d like, dipping the potato half into different parts of your marbled paint mixture to create different planets!

If your kid is older, they may enjoy adding some details…

And done! Such a magical and fun craft.
