Salty Sea

Mixing different colors together can be a lot of fun, and when you use watercolor and a little salt, it’s just like magic! This activity is a stunning art project for all ages.

Supplies Needed:

  • Watercolor Paper

  • Sea Salt

  • Liquid Glue

  • Paint Cups + Water

  • Paintbrush (s)

  • Water Soluble Paints

Prep for the Adults:

Add a couple drops of paint to some water to make different watercolors. You can have your little ones help with the mixing, and they can choose any colors they want!

Mix as many colors as you want.

Use the glue to create designs on the paper. I created a wave design!

Depending on the age and capability of your child, they may be able to do this part on their own.

Cover the design in sea salt! The easiest way to do this is to pour lots of salt on top and then shake it off once it dries.

Let dry completely.

Step-by-Step:

Once the glue is dried, gather the watercolors, your salt design, and a paintbrush/s.

Dip the paintbrush into the watercolor, and then dip the color onto the salt.

Like magic!

This project can become a household favorite! Use different designs and different colors to create a different artwork every time.
